Every April Goldenvoice transforms the Indio desert into the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival. The event celebrates music, art, and culture by organizing over 50 live musical performances, art installations, and activities for the weekend. An important aspect of the festival is the fashion. Festival season allows attendees to wear things that are out of their normal routine of style. It's almost like dressing up as a character without mocking it and blending that style with festival essential accessories. Fashion for this season is outrageous, bold and expressive to the person wearing the look. After attending this year's event, we were able to spot a repetitive amount of trends. From glitter galore to lazy lace, here is our list for the top fashion trend spotted at Coachella 2019.
Earlier this year Atlanta rapper Lil Nas X released the controversial song of festival season, "Old Town Road". The song helped invent a new genre of music called country trap. Not only did this transform the music industry, but the song also helped resurrect the cowboy/country trend. We're used to the usual cowgirl boots, but this trend elevated this year by adding new accessories and wardrobe pieces. Cowboy hats were spotted all throughout the festival and paired with butt-bearing chaps. Notable celebs spotted wearing the trend were: Hennessy Carolina (TV personality), Victoria Justice (actress/singer) and the O'Donnell Sisters (influencer).
Animal print has been making a reappearance since February's Fashion month and since has been classified as a predicted spring and summer trend. For festival season, we spotted a lot of animal prints in the desert. From snake skin to neon leopard, fest goers weren't afraid to express their animal senses. Notable celebs and influencers spotted rocking the prints were: Emily Ratajkowski (actress/model), Jasmine Tookes (model) and Torri Webster (actress).
Nothing but Net
The hardest part of choosing a look for both concerts and festivals is trying to find ways to avoid the unpredictable weather. To beat the desert heat, a lot of fest goers decided to go for the mesh look. The fishnet trend has been a huge staple of the 80's trend takeover happening since 2018. Net was featured in biker shorts, crop tops and even in layered pieces. Notable celebs and influencers netted were: Shay Mitchell (actress), Gizele Oliveira (model) and Sara Sampaio (model).
Lace has always been a festival favorite trend. Year after year, thousands of girls would come to Coachella with their over sized laced dresses, skirts and shirts. To avoid the basic flower child look, the trend stopped appearing a long with the basic flower crown. So it was surprising to see a lot of ladies return to the lace trend this year. Notable celebs and influencers loosely rocking lace were: Leonie Hanne (blogger), Olivia Culpo (influencer) and Chanel Westcoast (TV personality).
Last year, matching sets dominated Coachella season. The trend made its way back to 2019's festival as well. This trend is mostly popular because of its clutch factor and affordability. It is also a great way to avoid any weather issues by just adding a light denim coat. We saw a lot of classic two piece suits and even summery shots-and-crop-top duos. There was also a lot of streetwear inspired matching sets pairing recognizable designer brands in two piece outfits. Notable celebs and influencers matching it up were: Rosalia (singer), Madison Reed (influencer) and Jasmine Sanders (model).
Neon, Neon and more neon- the trend that revolutionized 2018. The loud color found a way to sneak into the Spring '19 collections of several designers . So, it was not a surprise to see this trend all through Coachella. Attendees found a way to push the boundaries by trying neon orange and pink. On the other hand, some chose to stick to their favorite neon green colored pieces This trend also found its way to swimwear as well. Notable celebs and influencers spotted in this bright trend were: Winnie Harlow (model) , Normani (singer), Danielle Herrington (model),

Every one was not afraid to express themselves via hair this weekend. From neon green to unicorn hair- this trend took over.
